Paris Point and Click

Text and photos by Elena Siemens

April in Paris, Place de L’Opera/Opera Square is lit by the afternoon sun, the color palette made for movies and art, no need to try hard, just point and click.

The old and the new (Lefebvre) share space here, my photo foregrounds a scooter in Futurist neon-green. In the background, the landmark L’Opera emphasizes the contrast of yesterday and today.

Congested traffic in and out. I’m at once a walker and a voyeur (De Certeau) looking up and looking down, charting my own itinerary. I’m in charge, it’s summer break, books back in the library.
